Yas Marina Hotel

Yas Marina Hotel

The Yas Marina Hotel interior design is a result of a successful collaboration between DE8 Architetti and Asymptote Architecture. Contrary to what happens most of the time when the interior does not reflect or give justice to the architecture, the project was born from a clear objective to make the inside aesthetically consistent with the outside not withstanding the functional logic behind every line. The interior vis-à-vis the exterior is not just a communication of literal forms, but at the same time, coherent strategies and well orchestrated emotions to the users. True to the idea of the architects, the interior creates a architectural symphony with the building, never overlapping, but rather making it more expressive, evident and effective. The spectacular site of the Formula 1 which was created on an artificial island does not translate parallel to how the Yas Marina Hotel is spectacular on its own. On the contrary, the project extremely identifies itself logically with thefunctional program. The internal dynamic flows, shifting of movements and internal paths, all considered as abstract lines of the site can be easily understood within the solution. These abstract lines define the organization of the spaces and the choice of materials. The materials selected for the interior have undergone a thorough reflection during the work process, more or less traditional, and it resulted to a variety of sophisticated textures. Environment responsive as we may call it, the materials are used to make an effective management of the region’s most abundant resource, light. They were closely selected to provide the optimum usage of light and give way to a new kind of landscape, a well calculated interior landscape. The parametric process guided the design to create not a mere decoration, but an apparatus of timeless ornaments which mediates between the old and the new, local and global, traditional and contemporary.
